Enterobius is agenus of nematode worms, known as pinworms in the United States and as threadworms in the United Kingdom. These worms are best known as intestinal parasites in humans and closely related species such as chimpanzees. An Enterobius infection is known as "enterobiasis," and is the most common parasitic worm infection in the United States and Western Europe, even moreso among children, who have infection rates as high as 50 percent in developed nations (*ahem* England) and even higher elsewhere.
