Architect and interior designer. Born in 1939 in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of an architect. Educated at the University of Engineering, Academy of Fine Arts, Prague.

Eva Jiricna produced award-winning, highly modern work for several large firms before opening her own architectural and interior design practice in 1984. She is an interior designer with whom architects like to work (e.g. Richard Rogers' Lloyds Building and Frank Gehry's Arthur Andersen headquarters in Prague) and is much sought after as a lecturer and critic by colleges and universities all over the world. Recently chosen to do the Spirit Zone in the much-criticised Millennium Dome, she caused some controversy by refusing to add a big Christian cross to the display, saying that "God is irrelevant to the Millennium exhibition" and calling the cross 'a symbol of suffering'. She's currently working on the Presidential palace in Prague.
