A phrase that conspicuously occurs in the music of James Brown. Particularly in the track You Can Have Watergate but Gimme Some Bucks and I'll Be Straight by Fred Wesley and the JBs. It of course refers to Fred Wesley the trombonist, who in this recording, seems to miss the change where he was supposed to take a solo. The following exchange occurs between James and the band members.

James: Fred is dead!
Band: No he ain't!
Fred is dead!
No he ain't!
There's Fred!
There's Fred!
Fred!!

And fred proceeds to play his solo. This is the only example I can name, but I have heard references in other session recordings of various songs. But as it is James Brown we are talking about, they are very hard to track down.
