Gilles Apap was born May 21st, 1963 in Bougue, Algeria. He began playing violin at the age of seven. Highly skilled, he is known for playing a variety of genres which include Romanian, Irish, Jewish and Bulgarian violin compositions, to name a few. Additionally, his willingness to experiment is made evident in such albums as "Gilles Apap & The Colors of Invention" in which he is accompanied by an accordion, cymbalum and double bass on Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons".
