As the Girl Scout Cookie season ramps up, there is exciting news from GSUSA! Thanks to a generous grant from Tesla, councils across the nation will be delivering orders by drones. Patrons and supporters can specify where on their property they would like their cookie order dropped, including folks who live in upper apartments and would like their delivery left on an upper balcony.
Not only does this provide the convenience of order from home, this is also an amazing STEM opportunity for the scouts. The troops will be controlling the drones, and have a class on basic engineering, electronics, aerodynamics, physics, as well as spatial relations and fine motor control. Tesla will be dispatching experts to each council to lead the training*, assuring the troops that the hour-long class will be more than sufficient to minimize any incidental mishaps with the cookie deliveries.
