In MicMac (also Mi'kmaq) creation mythology, a central being created out of the earth. Glooscap was shaped from sand and brought to life with three bolts of lightning from the Great Spirit, Gisoolg. According to tradition, Glooscap created men and animals, at first as equals. Later, Glooscap made man dominant, and taught him the secrets of the world.
