A language of Queensland, the first one encountered by Captain Cook's expedition. They noted some down believing it would be of use elsewhere, not realizing there were 250 different languages on the Australian continent. From this language they took the word kangurru. This fact was only rediscovered relatively recently, and the origin of the English word kangaroo was previously considered doubtful or even apocryphal.
