A defensive
scheme used by
NBA teams when competing against
Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq is bigger and stronger than almost anyone in the league, and once he gets his hands on the ball, he either scores, or score and gets fouled. The idea behind this tactic is to foul Shaq before he can shoot the ball, because Shaq's
free throw percentage is so
pathetic, he's almost guaranteed to miss at least one, and you will regain possession of the ball and only have to give up one foul. It also keeps
Shaq from being a force on the glass, and from his teammates getting involved with the offense.
A proven tactic, but it's only effective if you can get it done on the other end (see: Portland Trailblazers).
