Secretary of the Social Democratic Party in Sweden c. 1889. Branting was a workers' rights advocate and a pacifist. After superseding hardline SD founder August Palm Branting became the first Social Democratic PM (1920, 1921-23, 1924-25). That same party brought in the Swedish model (the "Middle Way") two decades later.
