The notion that there aren't nearly enough programmers, sysadmins, software and hardware engineers, and other information technology workers to go around. Some believe that there is much more myth than fact behind it.

Some have posited that the alleged shortage is really a fabrication created by The Man in order to get more United States H-1B visas allocated by Congress. (Foriegn workers get paid less, and have indentured servant status until they have to leave the country.) Meanwhile, the universities are churning out computer science graduates in droves, who have trouble even finding a job, and tech stocks are rapidly falling as the love affair with the "new economy" rapidly wanes.

So, is there really a shortage? Do those of us studying CS have anything to worry about? I invite further write-ups from people out there in the industry who can shed more light on this.
