First
woman to play baseball
professionally, she made her
debut on
May 30,
1997 for the
Saint Paul Saints. Needless to say, she faced a lot of
prejudice and
chauvanism during her first season but was a great
publicity draw for the Saints. She was traded to
Duluth in
1998.
Borders was profiled on 60 Minutes and in the New York Times. Her first season is also chronicled in the book Slouching Towards Fargo.
