Jump blues song written by Billy Austin and Louis Jordan. Featured in the Universal movie, Follow the Boys, it sold a million records in 1944 for Decca, thanks to the infectious sound of Louis Jordan and the Tympani Five.
Though many children discover it in a Tom and Jerry cartoon ("Solid Serenade," 1946), it has become a standard: over the years it's been recorded by Anita O'Day, Nat King Cole, Glenn Miller, Vic Damone, Frankie Lymon, B.B. King with Dr. John, Bing Crosby with the Andrews Sisters, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Joe Jackson, Dinah Washington, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Woody Herman, Joe Williams, Diana Krall, and during the 1990s, about every other swing band.
