A bassist/singer, a jazz musician who found his way into rock (he was one-third of Cream) via the early-60's British rhythm and blues scene. Post-Cream, his career has been all over the map, with fusion gigs, stints with Carla Bley, and failed attempts to be famous again. For a version of Bruce unfettered by imperatives of commercial viability, try Things We Like, with fellow reluctant rock stars of that era John McLaughlin, Dick Heckstall-Smith, and Jon Hiseman.

Editors note:

Jack Bruce died from liver disease on October 25, 2014 in Suffolk, England. He was 71 years old.
