Jal is an extremely small town in the very southeastern corner of New Mexico. The population is about 2000. Known as "The Natural Gas Capital of the World" by people who don't know better. It features a small man made lake in the shape of the cattle brand JAL that the town was named after, and large cut-out metal cowboys and cows that a local artist constructed and erected. The sculptures have been featured in New Mexico Magazine.
