TV rock group and hosts of
The Krofft Supershow.
During the show's first season, kids were kept in stitches by the antics of wacky band member Flatbush, a skinny white guy with frizzy red hair. When the second season aired, Flatbush was gone. No explanation. It was as if he had never been. To a little kid, which I was at the time, it was sorta weird and creepy.
Years later my friend Greg told me that he'd been convinced that the Kongs put hidden references to Flatbush in their subsequent songs, just as the Beatles did during the "Paul is dead" period. Play them backward, he said, and you'd inevitably hear "Flatbush is dead, man...miss him, miss him..."
