Small metal bowls made out of anything from gold and silver to more common stainless steel, used for serving individual portions of food at Indian meals. Generally, several katoris are arranged just inside the rim of a matching thali, a large metal plate. There are usually as many katoris as there are dishes, though rice, bread, and pickles are frequently placed directly on the thali.
