The King of
Java from 1268 to 1292. Honoured as Java's greatest leader, he took advantage of the disunited
Malay world in the
13th century to unite Java and became the most powerful ruler in South East
Asia.
He protected
Indonesia from
Kublai Khan's efforts to exact tribute, and he upheld
Buddhism and Javanese
culture.
Without his efforts, we perhaps would not now have the wonders of
Java coffee. And if we didn't have Java, think how different things would be. We'd have to rename at least one programming language for starters.
