Main piece from the great québécois poet, Gaston Miron.
The book itself is the collection of some poems from Miron, written between 1953 and 1970. One of the major theme in all of his poems is the difficulty of being french in North America. You can take that to a greater extend and, suddenly, the book become about the difficulty of being. Miron said that a sentence from Scott Fitzgerald guided his work; "Every life is a demolition process".
A very important actor in the development of a "québécoise conscience", Miron have been compared to Jackson Pollock in the way he performed his art.
L'homme rapaillé is definitely a must in québécoise poetry, just like Miron, along with Saint-Denys Garneau, Émile Nelligan and Gérald Godin.
