The LT1 is the second generation small block engine produced by General Motors, introduced in the 1992 Chevrolet Corvette. It was discontinued after the 1997 model year to be replaced by the LS1 (third generation Chevy small block).

The LT1 was a regular production option powerplant in the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, and Chevrolet Caprice. It was standard in the 1994-1996 Impala SS, Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, and Buick Roadmaster, and the 1992-1997 Chevrolet Corvette. The LT1 was optional in 1994-1996 Chevrolet Caprice cop cars, which made it the desirable pursuit vehicle of it's time.

The LT1 was more technically advanced than the previous first generation engine. It employed reverse-flow cooling, where the cylinder heads are cooled first, in order to raise the compression ratio to 10.5:1. It introduced the occasionally unreliable "Optispark" distributor. Horsepower ranged from ratings of 260 to 300 depending on application.
