Lane County is one of the 36 counties in the state of Oregon. It is named after General Joseph Lane, Oregon's first territorial governor. The county seat is Eugene, which also happens to be the third-largest city in the state. Outside of the Eugene-Springfield area the county is primarily forestland, creating a unique urban-rural divide.

Stretching from the Cascade Range to the Pacific Ocean, the county has a total area of 4,602 square miles; roughly the size of the state of Connecticut. As of 2021 the county has a total population of 389,103, making it the fourth largest county in the state by population and the sixth largest by area.
