A smallish Russian camera which has both manual and automatic f-stop and focal adjustments. You can use it WITHOUT a flash. The shutter stays open for as long as it needs to expose the film properly. The long exposure allows for an artsy and sometimes clumsy blur. Pictures show motion and light which can be annoying if you don't like that look, but wonderful if you want to pretend to be an artist. The Lomo has a wide angle lens and is quite portable. It runs on three watch batteries and uses regular 35 mm film. Apparently slower speed film is better to use because colors turn out more vividly. You can buy a tripod or a flash (it has a hotshoe) to use with the Lomo, but for diehard Lomo fanatics, that is almost like heresy.
