Here we come a-wassailing

From up above the hall

We still will snide and pry

Though you think we’ve seen it all

Love and thorns, come to you, and to all your lovers too,

And we’ll stress you and spin around your stone fountain now,

And we’ll bless your old stony face anew.

Here we come a-stumbling

From up above the trees

We still will howl and bray

As we run from all the bees

Love and thorns, come to you, and to all your branches too,

And we’ll bend you and swing from your low-slung bough

And we’ll send you some bright sunshine too.

Here we come a-twittering

From up above the clouds

We still will swift and spin

And we’ll bring you your shroud

Love and thorns, come to you, and to all your bearers too,

And we’ll lay down our flowers at your sweet head, too,

And we’ll pray down your sin and sorrow, too.
