Luka Bloom is a folk singer from
Ireland.
He was born in Newbridge, County Kildare, as Barry Moore (brother of Christy Moore). He started playing clubs in and around Dublin in 1976. Around 1987 he moved to the United States, and changed his name to Luka Bloom. 'Luka' comes from Suzanne Vega's song of the same name; 'Bloom' is from Leopold Bloom, the hero of James Joyce's novel 'Ulysses'.
