The
BeOS MediaKit is an
architecture for handling and manipulating
media in
real time.
It allows you to deploy so-called
media nodes, which have an arbitrary number of
inputs and
outputs
in some format. The format can be anything media:
audio,
video,
timecode,
text or anything else.
The nodes can then be
networked system-wide to construct
effect pipelines.
Some basic nodes are included with the
BeOS: audio in and out (your
soundcard),
video out (a
window), video in (a
Bt848 or
DV device) and an audio
mixer. There's
also a
freeware wrapper for
Cubase VST plugins.
