The process of adopting SI measurements (also known as the Metric System) and deprecating the archaic Imperial measuring system. Almost all of the world "went metric" decades ago, with the exception of the United States and Liberia. However, even in officially "metric" countries, adoption of the metric system varies from place to place (e.g. in Canada, all road signs are in kilometers, but citing one's height in centimeters is uncommon).
