From time to time, the
Mars company (the guys who distribute M&M's) offers a tasty variation on the traditional
melts in your mouth, not in your hand candy - mint flavored M&M's. These are plain
M&M's but the chocolate has been flavored with mint. The last time I saw these, they were released as a holiday promotion for
Christmas one year - the candies were colored
white,
red and
green.
These M&M's do not appear in those cool M&M commercials - you know, the ones where the candies are brought to life and given personalities on a computer, using Newtek's Lightwave rendering softare. In fact, for some reason, Mars does not distribute this variety of M&M as part of the normal M&M lineup, this despite the fact that these are far superior to the plain M&M's, peanut M&M's, almond M&M's, crunchy M&M's or peanut butter M&M's. In fact, the only other time I recall seeing these without some special promotion was when I bought a bag of King's M&M's while in Honolulu in 1982. I wonder to this day if these mint M&M's are available on a regular basis to the lucky folks living in Hawaii.
