An inaccurate euphamism for the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the LDS Church). LDS doctrine is closely associated with the name Mormon because of the Book of Mormon. Even many LDS Church members use the terms Mormonism and Mormon Church, it is more accurate and proper to use the full name. Members of the LDS Church are said to be LDS (eg, "Did you know Gladys Knight is LDS?") or Latter-Day Saints.

Mor"mon*ism (?), n.

The doctrine, system, and practices of the Mormons.
