The National Union of Teachers or NUT is a British Trades Union. Formed in 1870 as the National Union of Elementary Teachers it renamed itself as the National Union of Teachers in 1888, despite which its membership of some 206,000 has always tended to be drawn from primary rather than secondary schools.

It is affiliated to both the Trades Union Congress and to Educational International.
