A book by Roderick Thorp, which the movie Die Hard was based on. The main character is Joe Leland, who is older than his counterpart in the film, John McClane. Everything is seen through his perspective, which offers an insight not possible in the film.

Another difference from the film is that Leland must save his daughter and grandchildren. The story is also much more realistic. Leland is not unflinching in his actions. Leland is far from invincible, and there is much more suspense because of this.

The book is definitely a great read especially if you liked the film. It is quite different and offers a deeper perspective of the hero. I will even dare to say that the book is better than the movie.

Also, a book by Sidney Sheldon, which I haven't read.
