Doing the palmas is difficult, requiring two or more people. One group must clap in sync with the beat, the other must clap half a beat offset (Contras). Fingertips to palm produces the high pitched altas and palm to palm does the low gordas.
The result is an really cool, stereo effect CLAPclapCLAPclapCLAPclapCLAPclap compás when performed live or on a dance floor.
