Last film that Chow Yun Fat did in Hong Kong before leaving for the glory of Hollywood. Released in 1995, directed by Wai Ka-Fai, produced by John Woo, and co-starring Cecilia Yip. The movie was done like a quasi-Western and had Chow playing a man known only as The Killer. After he massacres a whole bunch of nasty guys, he retires and opens up the Peace Hotel, a haven for people looking to get away from violence. Cecilia Yip shows up as a mysterious trickster who apparently brings with her some serious baggage in the form of a vengeful gang boss. Which, of course, leads to the usual violence that you would expect. It turned out to be a pretty good movie...given that Hong Kong action films have sort of revived the Western style gunfight, setting the movie in a lawless frontier environment seems like quite an homage.
