Relic of the 80's that entertained people for hours by displaying static on a very small screen. People didn't just want to watch TV as much as they could, they wanted to watch it wherever they could, henceforth a few smart companies decided to make a television that could be carried anywhere. Despite 3 caveats that I'll get to shortly, I remember seeing many of these throughout my childhood. Luckily, I was never personally exposed.

Here's what was wrong, despite the fact that the little device was a TV (which is an evil of itself)

  • LCD screen was impossible to be seen in daylight.
  • Short battery life
  • Only received one channel, which always seemed to air the 6:00 news, even at 4:00 in the afternoon.

See, people didn't realize that television signals are weak, and unlike radio signals, you needed both an extremely close proximity or extremely large antenna to be able to recieve any signals. But they bought them anyway, much to my confusion (and that age, wonder).
