Also known as Religious Daoism or Xian (Hsien) Daoism. The English name given to the Dao jiao, or later strain of Daoism centered around everyday religious practice and the quest for immortality through meditation (internal alchemy) and/or (external) alchemy, as opposed to Philosophical Daoism or Dao jia which centers on the study of Daoist texts such as the Dao De Jing and the Zhuangzi.
