A pupton or poupeton was a sort of pâté made with minced meat or, alternatively, fruit such as apples or cherries mixed with eggs and breadcrumbs. These were popular, or at least, present, in the 1700s and 1800s in England, but few recipes remain. Those that do suggest that they were usually baked in a buttered mold to make little soft 'cakes' or fancy patties.
