Queen Melisend of Jerusalem was a real person. I just wanted you to know that. It is the most extraordinarily evocative name and I had to create this nodeshell to tell people about it.

She was the daughter of Baldwin of Bourg, King of Jerusalem, and inherited the throne from him in 1131. She was married to Count Fulk of Anjou and he accordingly became King of Jerusalem at her side. He died in 1143 and she continued to reign, until in 1152 she was deposed, and their son Baldwin III took the throne of Jerusalem.

Remember. Queen Melisend of Jerusalem. For a full king-list of the Crusader kingdom, see Kingdom of Jerusalem.
