Russian Caravan was named for Empress Catherine I of Russia for whom it was suposed to have first been blended. It was named after the caravan that took it from China to Russia. (The caravan node has a slightly different story for its origin).

Russian Caravan has an earthy, almost compost-y flavour slightly reminiscent of Lapsang Souchong. When I drink it it brings a picture to my mind of the wind whispering through the long grass of the steppes - why the pathetic fallacy should strike me so strongly with tea I know not.
