Artist: The Abyssinians
Album: Satta Massaganna

Something of a reggae standard, the definitive version of Satta Massaganna was performed as an album track by The Abyssinians, the legendary 1970's Jamaican reggae/dub trio.

Featuring a heavy reggae vibe, the track stands out for two reasons:- firstly, the trademark Abyssinians' close vocal harmonies give the cut a feel reminiscent of gospel, and secondly, the nature of the lyric.

Members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church at the time of recording, the phrase 'Satta Massaganna' is derived from the Ethiopian language Amharic, and means;

'Give thanks to God continually.'
