Seif dunes are long ridges of sand. In general they are aligned in the direction of the
prevailing wind. The slip face of such dunes are probably formed by eddies. The
depressions between seif dune ridges are swept clear of sand by the winds. The
ridges run for long distances, sometimes several kilometres. Their height appears to
be about one-sixth of the width of the dune's base.
