Details
This station has an exit onto the Mall, but for some reason that exit closes at 10:00pm Monday through Friday and isn't open at all on weekends. Despite its name, the station is actually up the street from most of the buildings of the Smithsonian. It is, however, close to the Washington Monument and the Holocaust Museum. Nearby art galleries include the Hirshhorn Museum, National Museum of African Art, and the Sackler and Freer Galleries.

From here you can...
go back to the Metro project,
jump to the blue or orange line,
go inbound to L'Enfant Plaza,
or outbound to Federal Triangle.
