South Boardman is a small town in Boardman township in Kalkaska County in the state of Michigan, with a population of 1811.

South Boardman is 8 miles south of Kalkaska, Michigan, and 6 miles north of Fife Lake, Michigan on US131.
It is home to 3 chruches, a gas station and general store, a resturant, a post office (zip code 49680), and a VFW hall (with our own Sherman tank!).

At the begining of the 20th Century, South Boardman was home a depot of The Grand Rapids & Indiana railroad. Grain and potatoes were shipped from here by railroad. The town had a population of 300 in 1884 acording to ancestry.com

Its home to 4 802.11b/g access points (two of them are mine) as of January 15, 2006.

But enough with stats.

There is nothing to do in South Boardman.
Some of us call it South Boredom or South Boring.
Most weekdays you can find a group of men at the general store in the morning drinking coffee.
We have DSL in our area by Ace Telephone, but the service is of questionable quality.
Charter has cable tv service but no cable modem access.
Lots of people drive snowmobiles all over the area.
