The sister sorority to Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraterntiy.

Originally founded at Texas Tech University and known as the "Tech Band Sorority" (hence the nickname TBS), an actual charter could not be obtained in the state of Texas due to certain corporation laws. In 1946, Due to these problems, the Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi agreed to apply for the charter in their home state of Oklahoma, where the laws wouldn't be such a problem. The charter was granted, and Tau Beta Sigma was officially a national sorority with the OSU chapter in Stillwater, Oklahoma retaining Alpha status. The ladies of the Texas Tech chapter are still known as the founders, and the Texas Tech campus is the holder of the Tau Beta Sigma monument, signifying the founder status of the Beta Chapter.
