Japanese commercials are well known for being eccentric. Such commercials find that their audience finds the eccentricity of the ad more important than its actual content, and that's why we have commercials such as this.

A few nutters in my university took that idea and ran with it.

Two Soundcloud rappers were in full-size bread costumes and invaded the hallways, the lecture hall, and generally everywhere they could get while playing their latest rap music. It generated quite a bit of traffic, and everyone found their efforts amusing. Posting this to social media got them more fame so long as the poster cited who they were.

Memes are the ultimate advertisement.
