The Tower of David is an imposing structure located just inside Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. In 1917, General Allenby stood on the steps outside the Tower and announced that Jerusalem had been liberated from the Ottoman Empire. Today the Tower is a museum which gives a good overview of the Old City.

Interestingly, historians think that the Tower had damn-all to do with David. This sort of thing is not untypical of Jerusalem, which is one of the world's most perverse, irritating, stupid, but also strangely wonderful cities.
