This is one of the best one-liners from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The line occurs relatively early-on in the film, and is delivered by Johnny Depp, while he is simultaneously hallucinating and driving a convertible. This line is both hilarious and effective.
Johnny Depp pulls over to the side of the road to fight off the "bats" with a tennis racket, only to speed off into the desert once more. The interesting cinematic aspect is that the camera focuses on the body of one of the "dead," imaginary bats. In terms of symbolism, this suggests that all of the characters' problems are not entirely drug-induced, and that there is, in fact, some basis behind their paranoia.
This movie is based on the novel written by Hunter S. Thompson, and was directed by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame.
