Spanish, a poor grammatic construction, though you still might be understood if you look American enough. Literally, it means "I am fifteen years", but following the rules of the language, it's the grammatical equivalent of saying "
I am three telephones" in
English. The proper phrase is "
Yo tengo quince años".
( This is because of the way Spanish grammer is set up. You aren't "fifteen", you have fifteen years. "Yo soy" usually begins an introduction or a quality, such as height or feeling. )
Why node an
erroneous phrase? Because it was a classroom favorite in both years of my Spanish class. The very day our teacher told us that it was wrong, we used it constantly.
