A Zebrù (pronounced 'ze-brooh') is a kind of mythical animal allegedly living nearby
Gran Zebrù (also known as
König-Spitze), a big mountain over 3850 meter tall located in the
Ortles group in northern
Italy, near
Bormio.
Some alpinist claim meeting a strange animal that looks more or less like a gnu with large black and white vertical stripes. They say it feeds on roots and grass and that it looks much prettier than the average yeti (though no yeti has yet to be reported on Gran Zebrù).
Cynical observers say the main cause of close encounters to zebrùs is a triple grappa shot, followed by Braulio and Valtellina wines. Excess amount of pizzoccheri eaten just before sleep might also account for such phenomena.
