Henry II (1133-1189) deployed loyal subjects to Ireland in payment for service with the OK of Pope Adrian IV. Laudabiliter. He granted them lg. estates. These Catholic immigrants eventually became more Irish than the Irish not only aiding and abetting Irish rebels but becoming leaders of the rebellion against England.

More English settlers were sent to Ireland by Henry VIII his lovely daughter Liz and eventually plantations were established in N. Ireland by Oliver Cromwell
