A potential fusion fuel mix proposed by Bussard for fusors. Its high energy requirements restrict it to fusor use. However, if it can be done, it's an ideal mix. It does not produce neutrons; in fact all energy is released in the form of three alpha particles in a remarkably narrow band of energies, allowing direct conversion to electricity.

The reaction products are as follows:
3 helium-4 (alpha particles) at a total energy of 8.7 MeV

These numbers are drawn from the NRL Plasma Physics Formulary, put out by the Naval Research Laboratory.

The emitted particles are in a relatively narrow band of energies, making direct energy extraction to 1.5 MV DC current relatively easy.
Editor's note: The MegaVolt is not a unit of electrical current.
