Broccoli rabe, also known as rapini, is a dark green cruciferous vegetable in the Brassica, specifically Brassica rapa, making it a cultivar of the same species as oilseed rape (Canola), turnips, napa cabbage, bok choy, and komatsuna.

Broccoli rabe resembles regular broccoli, except that the buds do not form a large head. It is also much more bitter than broccoli, although its combination of sweetness and bitterness can be quite appealing.

Broccoli rabe is strongly associated with Mediterranean cuisine and especially Italian cuisine, where it appears in many well-known dishes. Broccoli rabe is also one of the key ingredients of the classic Philadelphia roast pork sandwich.
