Perched at the edge of his park bench
Watching the start of evening rush hour

Long strings of blinking red lights
Wind through the streets below
As the tall buildings above them
Disrobe their shadows

On the hill at the city limits
He waits for his bus
Perched at the edge of the day’s conclusion
Watching the city grow dark
